The Hamilton Department of Public Works has received three phone calls about “brown water” on Thursday morning, April 2 – all from the area of Martel Road and Essex Street.
DPW Director Bill Redford said there was a fire in a Dumpster on Martel Road on Wednesday night.
“That is our best guess right now on reason,” Redford said.
When firefighters draw large amounts of water from a hydrant, it often stirs up the water. It will likely take 6-10 hours for the water to settle down, Redford said.
