Drivers in Hamilton on Saturday morning, May 2, should expect some temporary road closures and delays because of two events – the season-opening Little League parade and the Fast Chicks 5K road race.
The Fast Chicks 5K all-female road race starts at 8 a.m. at Patton Park and heads west on Asbury Street, south on Highland Street to Linden Street. It then takes Linden Street east to Howard Street, follows Howard Street to Porter Street in Wenham, then follows Porter Street to Union Street, back into Hamilton past the Hamilton-Wenham Library and back to Asbury Street and back to Patton Park.
Hamilton police said officers will be stationed along the course and the roads will remain open along the course during the race. Drivers should drive slowly through the area during the race and watch out for runners on the road. The race will last until about 9 a.m.
The Hamilton-Wenham Little League season-opening parade starts at 9 a.m. at the Buker Elementary School in Wenham on Saturday. The parade will make its way down Perkins Street in Wenham to Route 1A and head north to Hamilton. That’s where it will turn left on Railroad Avenue and take it to Union Street, take a left on Union Street and go to the back entrance of Pingree Park at Cheeseman Field, across from the library.
Portions of Route 1A in Wenham will be temporarily blocked during the parade and drivers should expect slight delays.
