The winds on Wednesday created an elevated fire danger, but it was those same winds that also made it a great day to fly a kite. That’s what brought Clara Lee out to Patton Park.
But her kite ended up caught in a tree. Hamilton firefighter Bob Wallace saw that the kite was stuck and lent a hand getting it down.
“Though unable to get it out of the tree for us, it meant a lot that this firefighter came out to see if he could help,” Clara’s mother, Rachel, wrote in a thank you note to Wallace. “It also made Clara feel better to hear that this (firefighter) had also lost his kites when he was a boy.”
