A mandatory water ban is in effect in Hamilton – effective immediately starting on Friday, May 22. All outdoor mechanical watering (i.e. sprinklers) is prohibited. Hand held watering is still allowed between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.
For the third consecutive day on Friday the Ipswich River fell below levels to protect stream flow for aquatic life and to ensure a sustainable drinking water supply, according to the Hamilton Water Department.
The Water Department is also asking residents to limit non-essential water use.
