Water Ban Has Come Earlier Than Usual, Will Affect Fundraising Car Washes

The mandatory water ban put into place earlier this week in Hamilton came earlier than usual this year, according to DPW Director Bill Redford. He called the order from the state Department of Environmental Protection “a bit surprising considering the nine feet of snow we received during the later part of this winter.”

The order is based on the low flow in the Ipswich River and is required by the DEP as a condition of the permit issued to the town.

Redford warned that the water ban will impact several fundraising car washes that School District groups had been planning.
