Nobody was injured when a sport utility vehicle crashed through a pillar and into the front of the CVS pharmacy at the Shoppes at Hamilton Crossing on Friday morning, according to Hamilton Police and Fire Department officials.
The crash knocked merchandise off the shelves at the front of the store, as shown in the accompanying photo from the Hamilton Fire Department.
The call came in to Hamilton first responders at 9:40 a.m., according to Hamilton Fire Chief Phil Stevens and Hamilton Police Lt. Scott Janes, reporting a car had crashed into the building.
A Wenham resident was driving the SUV, Janes said.
Nobody had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital and the town’s building inspector and electrical inspector arrived at the store, checking on the building, and a structural engineer was expected to arrive at about noon on Friday, Stevens said.
The store will be closed until a full assessment of the structural damage to the store is complete, according to Janes, but the pharmacy drive-up will remain open so prescriptions can be filled and picked up.
