Route 1A, Moulton Street Closed After Strong Thunderstorm Sweeps Through Hamilton

Moulton Street is closed and a portion of Bay Road (Route 1A) is closed this afternoon because of a strong thunderstorm that swept through Hamilton at about 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4.

All of Moulton Street is closed because limbs are down on the wires, as of 4:15 p.m. DPW crew are waiting for National Grid electric crews to arrive, according to DPW Director Bill Redford.

Bay Road (Route 1A) is blocked south of Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School, near Rock Maple Avenue, because a tree is down, blocking one lane, Redford said.

Additionally, “tree limbs are down all over,” Redford said. Private tree companies will be called in for the large trees and DPW crews are pulling the smaller stuff off the roads.
