Upper Asbury Street Closed After Pole Snaps in Crash

Upper Asbury Street is closed this evening, Saturday, Oct. 31 after a car crash snapped an utility pole.

Hamilton PoliceThe crash happened before 5 p.m. just north of the intersection of Asbury and Highland streets.

The snapped telephone pole needs to be replaced so Asbury Street toward Topsfield is closed until the pole is replaced by National Grid, according to Hamilton police Sgt. Stephen Trepanier.

The crash occurred when the driver was traveling on upper Asbury Street from Topsfield into Hamilton when his vehicle struck the telephone pole at the intersection of Highland Street and upper Asbury Street, Trepanier said.

The driver said he fell asleep and there were no signs of any intoxication, Trepanier said. Beauport Ambulance took the driver to the hospital with minor injuries.
