Asbury Street Reopens After Pole Containing Several Transformers Snaps in Crash

The pole that was struck by a vehicle on Saturday evening, Oct. 31 on Asbury Street contained several transformers and took several hours to repair, keeping the road closed, according to Hamilton police Lt. Scott Janes.

Hamilton PoliceHamilton police said the driver of the vehicle that crashed, Joseph S. Scuderi, 74, of 56 Rust St., fell asleep before the crash. He suffered minor injuries and was taken by Beauport ambulance to Beverly hospital, according to a police report on the incident.

The crash occurred on Asbury Street just north of the Highland Street intersection at 3:52 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. It was investigated by Hamilton police Sgt. Stephen Walsh.

The repairs to the pole were complete by 8 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, according to police. The crash cut power to a handful of homes in the early evening.
