Nearly 400 toys were collected at this year’s “Stuff a Cruiser” event put on by the Hamilton Police Department this past weekend.
The toy drive on Saturday, Dec. 12 was a successful event, according to Hamilton Police Chief Russ Stevens.
The 370 toys that were collected will be distributed by the Hamilton Foundation to children in need and Boston Children’s Hospital to be distributed to those who cannot be home for the holidays.
As in the past, toys were collected by Hamilton Police Department volunteers along with Santa Claus, who was on hand during the event to meet and greet everyone who stopped by, Stevens said.
Kenneth “Kirby” Brand of Brand Company, a Hamilton based battery and flashlight business, donated batteries for any toys that needed a battery.
“The generosity demonstrated by everyone this season is what Hamilton is about,” Stevens said. “This is part of what community policing is by helping those in need.”
