Fire Dept., COA to Offer Seniors Visit to Fire Academy

burnbldg (2)The Hamilton Council on Aging and the Hamilton Fire Department are teaming up to offer senior citizens a free trip to check out the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy.

The tour of the facility in Stow is scheduled for Wednesday, May 18. The trip is free to participants.

The bus will leave the Senior Center, 299 Bay Road, at 8:30 a.m. and the tour will begin at 10 a.m. The tour will last about an hour and on the way back to Hamilton the bus will stop at the 99 Restaurant in Wayland for lunch.

The Massachusetts Firefighting Academy was created in 1971 and provides fire training to municipal fire personnel at no additional cost to cities and towns. It is used for professional development in the Massachusetts fire service and to allow members a means to demonstrate their ability to meet professional qualification standards through an objective measure of their professional knowledge, skills, and abilities.
