Airbags Help Avoid Serious Injury in Highland Crash

highland crash.jpgAirbags are being credited for helping avoid serious injuries in a two-car crash at the intersection of Asbury and Highland streets in Hamilton on Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened on May 21 at 2:16 pm. when one vehicle, shown in the accompanying photo, was traveling north on Highland Street. That vehicle struck a vehicle pulling out of Asbury Street, according to Hamilton police Sgt. Stephen Trepanier.

The vehicle coming out of Asbury Street failed to use care when entering Highland Street, Trepanier said.

He called the crash “another blessing for airbags” since one of the vehicles had a family riding in it.

The Hamilton Police Department, Hamilton Fire Department, Beauport Ambulance and the Wenham Fire were on scene and the Wenham Police Department assisted Hamilton police with traffic control while Hamilton police officers investigated.

The driver and passenger in the vehicle that was pulling out of Asbury Street were taken to Beverly Hospital, Trepanier said.
