Precautions and prevention of mosquito and tick-borne illness will be the focus of an upcoming presentation in Rockport that the Hamilton Board of Health invites any interested residents to attend.
The Rockport Board of Health is presenting Dr. Alfred DeMaria Jr. of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, who will discuss Zika, Lyme disease, eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) and other mosquito and tick-borne diseases.
Attendees will learn about the risks of mosquito and tick bites, the diseases that result and ways to prevent bites and infections. DeMaria, who is the medical director and state epidemiologist at the Bureau of Infectious Disease and Laboratory Sciences of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, will discuss the facts and myths, precautions, and prevention.
The presentation is free and open to the public and will be held in the auditorium at Rockport High School on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 from 6:30 – 8 p.m., including a presentation and question and answer session.
