More than 1,000 diapers and wipes were collected during the town’s first annual Diaper Drive.
The Hamilton Health Department, Town Manager Michael Lombardo and the Acord Food Pantry have issued a thank you to everyone who provided diaper and wipes donations during the drive.
All of the diapers and wipes that were donated stocked the shelves of The Acord Food Pantry earlier this spring. In total, there were 880 individual diapers and 400 wipes donated.
“This overwhelming amount demonstrates the compassion and willingness of the community to work together and improve the lives of our children and families,” the Health Department, Lombardo and Acord said in its thank you message.
The drive was part of a collaboration to increase public awareness about the unmet need for diapers in Hamilton and also throughout the nation.
If you still wish to donate new and unopened packages of diapers sizes 4 and up or wipes, you can drop them off into the Acord boxes at Hamilton-Wenham Public Library and the Hamilton Police Department during normal operating hours. The library, at 14 Union St. in Hamilton, is open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays. The police department is open 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
