Donkey Doing Well After Hamilton Firefighters Rescued It From Storm Drain in Under 15 Minutes

Hamilton firefighters succeeded in freeing a donkey that was struck in a catch basin on Wednesday, June 22.

The rescue happened at 11:45 a.m. when Hamilton fire and police departments were dispatched to Ship Oak Farm at 16 Gail Ave. for the report of a donkey stuck in a well, according to Hamilton Fire Chief Phil Stevens.

Four minutes later when first responders arrived they found a donkey stuck in a catch basin. The donkey, which weighed about 250 pound, was removed from the catch basin by noon.

The donkey is doing well, Stevens said.
