The new Veterans Memorial Pool at Patton Park should be ready for swimmers at some point in August, according to Recreation Director Sean Timmons.
The tentative completion date for pool construction is the first week of August, barring any weather-related delays. Some of the remaining work is weather- dependent, so rain storms could delay the work, he said.
After construction is complete, there are several things that recreation staff need to do before the pool can open up to the public, including equipping the pool and offices with supplies, familiarize themselves with the new filtration system, on-site lifeguard training and a Board of Health inspection, which will all take one to two weeks.
An open house at the pool will also be announced as an opening date gets closer.
