A red balloon flying up above Asbury Street shows the height of a proposed cell tower in the area.
Plans for the proposed communications tower, which is designed to improve Verizon Wireless coverage on the west side of Hamilton, will go before the Hamilton Planning Board on Sept. 20. Saturday’s balloon test is designed to give residents an idea of the tower height.
The balloon is up above 434 Asbury St. where Blue Sky Towers is seeking a special permit to build the tower. The balloon is intended to help determine the potential visual impact the proposed communications tower may have on the surrounding area and the vantage points it may be visible.
The balloon is flying off a tether at 120 feet.
Anyone with questions or comments about the balloon flight or the proposed tower should contact Patrick Reffett, Hamilton’s director of planning and inspections at 978-626-5248.
