The boil water order in Hamilton will remain in effect through at least Wednesday, Town Manager Michael Lombardo announced on Tuesday morning, Sept. 27.
The boil water order has been in effect since last Saturday night, Sept. 27, because of a water main break on Bridge Street.
The first round of testing on the town water supply is underway and is expected to be returned by midday on Tuesday. But the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) has requested a second round of testing to make sure that the water system is free of contaminants. Because the second round has been requested, the boil water order will remain in effect until at least the results are complete midday on Wednesday, Sept. 28, Lombardo said. If the boil water order can be lifted sooner, residents will be notified.
Town officials will keep residents posted about the test results on the town website and social media.
