Two important voter registration deadlines are coming up for Hamilton residents.
The final day to register to vote in special Fall Town Meeting is Wednesday, Oct. 12 and the final day to register to vote in the November general election is Wednesday, Oct. 19.
The Hamilton Town Clerk’s office is taking registrations through each deadline. The Town Clerk’s office in Hamilton Town Hall will be open all day, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., on both deadline days to take registrations, according to Town Clerk Andrea Carlson. The fall Special Town Meeting will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 9 a.m. at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School and the general election will be held at the Hamilton-Wenham Community Center (next to Hamilton-Wenham Public Library) at 16 Union St. on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
New registration is for anyone who has never been registered to vote, including residents that will turn 18 before the Special Town Meeting or the general election, plus anyone who has recently moved to Hamilton. If you were previously registered to vote in another Massachusetts community, or in another state, that does not transfer to Hamilton.
It takes just a few minutes to fill out a voter registration form and you should know your driver’s license number or the last four digits of your social security number because the application requires one of those two things but you will not be asked to show any documents.
