The Hamilton public health nurse is warning resident about a voluntary recall of several flavor of Clif Bars.
The voluntary recall applies to three flavors of bars from Clif Bar & Co. – the chocolate mint flavor, Kid Zbar protein chocolate mint and kid Zbar protein chocolate chip flavors.
Christine Lee, the Hamilton public health nurse, issued the alert on Thursday, based on information from the state Department of Public Health (DPH). The three bars possibly have undeclared peanuts and tree nuts in them. Two of the three recalled flavors are targeted toward children.
The undeclared nuts could include almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, walnuts and coconuts, according to the DPH. Clif Bar & Co. has issued the recall as a precautionary safety step for people who are allergic to peanuts and the listed tree nuts because they run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat one of the recalled bars.
