IMG_20170611_140219297The Patton Park playground should be dry soon thanks to the work of several members of the Hamilton Fire Department in recent days.

Fire Capt. Ray Brunet, firefighter Bob Wallace and firefighter Jared Dolan pumped out the excessive water in the park last Friday to help it dry out faster, according to Police Chief Russell Stevens.

They did it on Friday so that the entire playground was available for children during the weekend.

Firefighter Lends Hand After Girl’s Kite Gets Stuck in Tree

TFirefighter Bob Wallace and Clara Lee at Patton Parkhe winds on Wednesday created an elevated fire danger, but it was those same winds that also made it a great day to fly a kite. That’s what brought Clara Lee out to Patton Park.

But her kite ended up caught in a tree. Hamilton firefighter Bob Wallace saw that the kite was stuck and lent a hand getting it down.

“Though unable to get it out of the tree for us, it meant a lot that this firefighter came out to see if he could help,” Clara’s mother, Rachel, wrote in a thank you note to Wallace. “It also made Clara feel better to hear that this (firefighter) had also lost his kites when he was a boy.”
