The positions are for 12 weeks starting on May 15 and the pay is $12 per hour. The jobs will include typical seasonal DPW work, including maintenance of parks, cemeteries and municipal buildings.

All candidates need to be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license. Employees will also have to pass a background check and drug screening.

The Rec Department is accepting applications for pool supervisors, lifeguards and gate attendants, according to Recreation Director Sean Timmons.

Rec Department Seeks Part-Time Administrative Assistant

help wantedThe Hamilton-Wenham Recreation Department is seeking candidates for a part-time administrative assistant position.

The job is up to 20 hours per week, working under the direction of the Recreation Director, and includes routine clerical duties to support recreational programming and marketing.

The starting salary range is from $19.88 to $20.68 per hour, plus benefits. The position is Grade II in the Collective Bargaining Unit.

Candidates should have a strong knowledge of computer software and knowledge of office practices, written and oral communication skills and the ability to learn Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.

Town Seeks Accountant and Finance Director, Deadline to Apply July 22

AnnouncementThe town of Hamilton is looking for a new town accountant and finance director.

Qualified and experienced applicants are being sought to provide accounting services and coordinate and supervise all Finance Department operations, including accounting, procurement and MIS functions.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, 10 years of progressively responsible experience in public sector financial management with budgets of at least $20 million and a strong working knowledge of state and municipal finance laws under GAAP and GASB standards. Experience with Munis software experience is preferred along with Massachusetts Municipal Accountants and Auditors Association (MMAAA) certification.

The starting salary range is $90,402-$93,912.

Rec Department Now Hiring for Pool Staff, Including Lifeguards

lifesaver-24966_960_720Pool staff is now being hired for the brand new Veterans Memorial Pool at Patton Park, which will open this summer.

The open positions include Pool Director, Pool Supervisor and lifeguards.

The seasonal position of Pool Director will start in mid to late June for pre-season responsibilities and the pool season will run into early September. The official opening date of the pool hasn’t been confirmed yet because of the ongoing construction.

The Pool Supervisor will work with the Pool Director managing the day-to-day supervision of lifeguards, park and public swim lessons, pool maintenance and in-service lifeguard training.

There are also full-time and part-time lifeguard positions available.

Job Opening for Town Manager Assistant

Hamilton Town HallThere’s an opening for the Assistant to the Town Manager position at Hamilton Town Hall.

The full-time position, at 37.5 hours per week, will be under the supervision of the Town Manager. The Assistant to the Town Manager provides confidential administrative and clerical support to the Town Manager’s office and Board of Selectmen.

Town of Hamilton Hiring for Community Projects Coordinator Position

The town of Hamilton is hiring. The part-time position of Community Projects Coordinator is open.

Community Preservation ActThe position assists and supports the Community Preservation Committee, Hamilton Affordable Housing Trust, and the Historic District Commission. The person in the position performs responsible, professional, technical and administrative work providing administrative support services for all four groups. The position reports to the Director of Planning and Inspections. It is a 19 hour per week position and the hourly wage range is $20.89 to $23.50, depending on qualifications and experience. Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in government, municipal planning, business or other related field and two years experience in municipal management, housing, government law, planning, procurement or a related field. Currently, Rachel Meketon is in the position and her last day is Aug. 28. She is leaving to become a full-time student in the Masters in Planning Program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

During about a year with the town, Meketon has accomplished a lot for the Hamilton Development Corp., Hamilton Affordable Housing Trust and the Community Preservation Committee.
